GYLA will monitor the cases of persons detained under criminal law in court. As of December 5, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 18 persons have been detained under criminal law. On December 4, the 7th day of the legitimate protest, additional repressive measures were implemented. People’s homes and offices were violently and humiliatingly searched and detained, aimed at suppressing legitimate protests by intimidating citizens.


In particular, searches were conducted simultaneously in the offices of opposition parties Coalition for Change, NM, and Girchi-Droa. Items such as physiological solutions, masks, and helmets were confiscated. Law enforcement officers also entered the office of the youth movement Nabiji.


According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, investigations related to the ongoing protests are underway under the following provisions of the Criminal Code: Article 187: Damage or destruction of property. Article 353: Attack on a police officer, Special Penitentiary Service employee, or other government representative. So far, 9 people have been arrested under these articles. Articles 225 and 239: Organization, leadership, or participation in group violence, and public incitement to violence. 8 individuals have been detained under these articles. Other charges: One individual has been detained for allegedly preparing an explosion.
