GYLA Elected a New Chairperson

Based on the decision of the board of the Georgian Young Lawyers‘ Association (GYLA), the new chairperson – Ana Natsvlishvili will lead the organization since December 24, 2014. 

Ana is the eleventh chairperson of the organization. According to the Statute of GYLA, the chairperson is elected from the members of the board, on the annual basis. 
 
At this position, Ana is replacing Kakha Kozhoridze, who has been leading the organization in 2012-2014. 
 
The elections of the chairperson were conducted simultaneously in Kutaisi branch of GYLA, where Giorgi Chikaberidze was elected for the second term.
 
We would like to present the short biography of the GYLA’s new chairperson: 
 
Education 
 
2011-2012 – studied in the University of Essex (Great Britain), was granted the academic degree in the human rights and international humanitarian law (LLM with Distinction);
2006-2007 – studied in the Central European University (Hungary), was granted the masters academic degree in the humam rights law; 
2002-2006 – studied in the Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, was granted the bachelors academic degree in law; 
2003-2004 – underwent one-year study course at GYLA’s Legal Education and Information Center. 
 
Work Experience 
 
Since 2013, has been working at the position of GYLA parliamentary secretary; additionally, is a lecturer at the Georgian-American University (GAU) and at the GYLA’s Foundation for the Support of the Legal Education. 
In 2012-2013, was working in Vienna and Poland, at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and at the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) as a specialist; 
In 2011-2012, was working in Great Britain, at the Essex Transititonal Justice Network (ETJN) as an associate researcher; 
In 2011, was working in Georgia, at the international organization „Penal Reform International“ (PRI) at the Caucasus office, as the coordinator of the regional project;  
In 2008 – 2010, was working in Georgia, as the coordinator of the regional project at the Human Rights Center (HRIDC); 
In 2007-2008, in the framework of the human rights program of the third millenium, underwent the internship at the international NGO „Article 19“, in Great Britain and in the legal clinic of the University of Kwazulu-Natal, in the Republic of South Africa; 
Ana is the author and co-author of several research publications, was cooperating in the capacity of an expert with the Human Rights House networks, OSCE/ODIHR, the Danish Institute of Human Rights, international organization – Front Line Defenders, etc. 
 
In 2014, was elected as the chairperson of GYLA.
