Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association submitted to the Parliament legal opinion on the draft amendments to the law on “Civil Service”. Gia Zhorzholiani, MP is the author and initiator of the draft. The initiative envisages extension of the tenure for acting civil servants of local self-government and accordingly postponement of competitions on vacant positions, which affects negatively stability of the civil service and its further development.

In this statement, Lazarashvili accused the Chairman of Supreme Court and members of Plenum of infringing her judicial independence and forcing her to leave the job in May 2010. This, according to the statement, was expressed in transferring Lazarashvili to the Chamber of Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court against her will, repeatedly exerting pressure on her with the demand that she leaves the position and directly interfering with her judicial activity.
