Two years in government: Georgian Dream's performance review

Tbilisi, 28 May 2015 – The 1 October 2012 parliamentary elections established a new ruling parliamentary majority and brought the Georgian Dream Coalition in the executive power. GYLA Foundation for the Support of Legal Education Held Closing Ceremony of the Project “Promotion of Civil and Legal Education”

In the national library GYLA Foundation for the Support of Legal Education held closing ceremony of the project “Promotion of Civil and Legal Education” on May 25, 2015. The project aims public awareness raising about civil and legal education, development of professional skills among civil education teachers and provision of civil education through intensive training course. In the framework of the project Street Law guidebook, published in 2014 by the Foundation for the Support of Legal Education in cooperation with GIZ, was introduced in public school curriculum.

GYLA considers unconstitutional provision of only minimal insurance service package to the individuals who used private insurance service by July 1, 2013 period

On May 25, 2015 GYLA lodged a constitutional case in the court and challenged constitutionality of Article 2 of the Government order  about “Pending Measures for Transition to the Universal Insurance Program”. Under this norm, individuals who had used private insurance by July 1, 2013 period are deprived of the chance to benefit from the medical service envisaged by the Universal State Insurance Program. These individuals are eligible only to the minimal insurance service package.

Successfully Litigated Cases in April

With GYLA’s assistance a citizen of Iran received residence permit  GYLA’s Tbilisi office represented in the court interests of a citizen from Iran. On August 9, 2013 he was enrolled in the state conservatory and received temporary residence permit for a year. After expiration of the period, he applied to the State Services’ Development Agency and requested resident permit for continuation of education.
