On initiative of Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) and Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF), representatives of NGO sector met with nominees for ombudsmen, Giorgi Tugushi and Dimitri Lortkipanidze.

The necessity of the meeting was caused by the fact that the office of public broadcaster has always been closely cooperating with NGO sector and respectively, organizations that facilitated the meeting consider that the ruling party and the parliamentary opposition should have consulted with civic sector prior to nominating candidates for the post.

Up to 50 experts, journalists and representatives of NGO sector introduced themselves to programs and visions of candidates; an interesting discussion regarding human rights problems was held.

A large number of questions were asked to the candidates, whose responds were mostly very interesting.

OSGF and GYLA are planning to hold a meeting of similar format with candidates of public TV’s general director.
