“Young Lawyers for Constitutional Rights”

Traditionally, Legal Education Assistance Foundation founded by Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association held a moot court competition in the Constitutional Court of Georgia under the name “Young Lawyers for Constitutional Rights”.  
 
For the past six years, the Competition has been arranged in cooperation with the Constitutional Court. As usually, it always coincides with GYLA’s annual traditional event “Human Rights’ Week”. This year, German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation “IRZ” provided financial support.    
 
8 teams participated in the Competition. They were composed of the second, third and the fourth year students from Tbilisi State University and the University of Georgia.  
 
The jury formed from members of the Constitutional Court, field specialists, professors and a judge from Germany led the Competition. 
December  7 – selection rounds were held and semi-finalists were selected;
December  8 – Semi-final was held, where the finalist groups were selected;
December 9 – The final was held and the closing ceremony was arranged. The head of the Constitutional Court awarded participants of the competition. 
 
The winner team, the best applicant, the best respondent, the best player nominated by the Constitutional Court, the best player nominated by the Constitutional Court, the best player nominated by Legal Education Assistance Foundation and “Sympathy” of the jury were announced at the closing ceremony. In addition, IRZ also nominated the best player and the grand prize was granted to him.  
 
The team from Tbilisi State University became the winner (Nino Latsabidze, Ani Nadareishvili, Salome Kuprava) of the Competition.
