From 2018, GYLA has been implementing the project Enabling Parliamentary Oversight over Executives’ Security Sector (Secret) Procurements with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Georgia.

Within the framework of the project, GYLA has been studying existing oversight mechanisms of the legislative body in regards to the executive branch. On February 1-2 and February 8-9, GYLA has conducted outreach workshops with the opposition MPs. During the workshops, researchers and monitors of the organization have presented main challenges and findings revealed during their work and issued recommendations for enhancement of the parliamentary oversight mechanisms. GYLA plans to have concluding workshop with the representatives of the ruling party as well.

Until the end of the project, GYLA will elaborate on its findings to finalize a complex document evaluating approaches, methods and procedures of the parliamentary oversight of the security and defence sector. During the implementation process, GYLA’s researchers publish interim blogposts on findings revealed.
