Media Advocacy Coalition once again addresses international organizations regarding ongoing processes in Adjara Public Broadcaster

We believe that the developments in the Public Broadcaster Adjara TV and Radio are alarming. Since April 2019, doubts on an attempt to undermine the channel’s independent policy have been confirmed daily. And today there is a real threat that newly elected Advisory Board and the management appointed by them will change the staff list and keep part of the staff away from the editorial policy.

We believe that the current situation is alarming and it involves both, risks of violating freedom of media and human rights.

We, the member organizations of the Coalition, will continue to involve within our competence and protect the concept of Public Broadcaster, on the other hand, we ask our international partner organizations for assistance in maintaining the guarantees of freedom of expression.
