Cases of alleged vote buying

1. On September 13, members of the initiative group supporting Irakli Okruashvili, a majoritarian candidate for Gori, distributed various food products to residents of apartment buildings no. 11, 13, and 15 located on Shindisi highway in Gori. It is noteworthy that before distribution of the products, Irakli Okruashvili himself, the majoritarian candidate for Gori, had met with the citizens. In connection with this, according to news reports, Mamuka Nozadze, a majoritarian candidate for Gori from Alliance of Patriots – United Opposition, filed a complaint in the prosecutor’s office. The fact of distribution of food products has also been confirmed by one of the citizens.     

In connection with the aforementioned, the GYLA has filed applications in the State Audit Office of Georgia and the Interagency Commission for Free and Fair Elections. 

2. According to news report , on September 18, on the initiative of the youth wing of the political association National Forum and with the funding of the party’s majoritarian candidate in Poti, Otar Kharchilava, a Festival of Colors was held in the city of Poti.  Information about the event and the corresponding photos were also posted on the candidate’s campaigning page on Facebook.

At the festival, color powders were distributed free of charge to anyone who wished to get them. The festival participants included both adults and minors. The organizers of the event (members of the party’s youth wing) were wearing campaign T-shirts. The candidate also took part in the event.    

In connection with the aforementioned, the GYLA has filed applications in the State Audit Office of Georgia and the Interagency Commission for Free and Fair Elections. 

3. According to news reports, in the past several days, members of the youth wing of National Form have been distributing flyers in the streets of Poti. The flyer says that the party – on behalf of Otar Kharchilava, National Forum’s majoritarian candidate in Poti – invites young people in Poti aged 17-30 to take part in various entertainment events (field trips, karaoke parties, photo shoots, etc.). According to the article on the news agency’s website,  ays that the expenses will be fully paid by National Forum.   

In connection with the aforementioned, the GYLA has filed applications in the State Audit Office of Georgia and the Interagency Commission for Free and Fair Elections.
