Prompt and Effective Investigation should be conducted into the case of Studio Monitor

On July 22, 2012, journalists of a non-profit legal entity, Studio Monitor, found that their office had been robbed. As of now, two personal computers, two editing equipments, two cameras, one tripod and one flip camera have been reported missing. In addition to the equipment, working materials of journalists are also missing.

Studio Monitor is an independent union of journalists, greatly contributing to realization of freedom of expression in the country. Studio Monitor is one of the few studios that prepare journalistic investigations and is therefore particularly important for public. Studio Monitor was established on December 14, 2005. Since then it has been cooperating closely with Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association and has been a beneficiary of the service provided by Georgian Media Legal Defense Center (GMLDC).

The GMLDC believes that prompt and effectual probe into the case of Studio Monitor is important in order to allow journalists receive their materials and equipments back and get back to their usual work mode without further delay.
